If you look at line 3, you can see that only one tile is free, the other tile is blocked by two other tiles and so it cannot be selected. It’s a different story with the tiles indicated by the red lines. The tiles indicated by line 2 are also free on one side, so they can be eliminated as well. If you trace the green line 1 in the picture above, you can see that both of these tiles are free on at least one side, this means these tiles can be combined and eliminated. You can only remove a tile if it is free on at least one side.A tile cannot be selected if it has other tiles on either side of it.A tile can only be selected if there are no other tiles on top of it.You can only combine tiles that meet the following conditions: Instead, you need to match the tiles in the series, such as summer and spring or autumn and winter.Īccording to the rules of Mahjong, it’s not possible to simply match and eliminate any tile that appears on the board. There are 4 tiles in each of these series, all of which only appear once in each game, so it is not possible to match them precisely. There are two exceptions: the flowers series and the seasons series. In other words, you are looking for two pairs in each series. The goal of Mahjong is to combine the tiles with matching images. If you look carefully, you’ll see that some of them are exactly the same, this is because each image appears 4 times in the game. The tiles all have different characters and images on them. When you start, the Mahjong Solitaire game appears as a board with 144 tiles arranged on top of one another in the shape of a pyramid. Start playing Online Klondike Solitaire, the the classic version of Solitaire. The Mahjong game has two different versions: the traditional Asian version, which is a game for 4 players, and Mahjong Solitaire, which is always played by one person and is mostly popular in the West, this is the game you can play online on. To win, you want to place all cards in the four foundation piles. These are the four empty areas at the top of the game. ![]() Each pile represents a different suit, and should be filled in order starting with the Ace all the way to the King. Moving the cards from the stock pile to the foundation Once you’ve done this with all four foundation piles, you win the game! For example, you would place the Ace of Spades first, followed by the 2 of Spades, then 3 of Spades, until the King of Spades is placed. On the top left, you’ll see a stack of cards. Each card is removed from the stockpile one at a time, or three at a time, depending on if your playing Turn 1 or Turn 3. These cards can either go into the foundation or the tableau, the area where the cards are laid out in a staircase fashion below the stockpile.Ĭards can be moved directly to the foundation if it’s in the correct order. For example, if you happen to have an Ace of Spades as the first card turned over from your stockpile, you can place that card on the foundation pile for Spades. If your second card is a 2 of Spades from the stock pile, you can then place that on top of the Ace of Spades in the foundation. Moving the cards from the stock pile to the tableauĬards from the stock pile can also be placed in the tableau. The tableau is the group of cards with the seven columns, with the last card of each column turned faced up, and with each column having an additional card. Specifically, the first column has 1 card, the second column has 2 cards and so on until the seventh column which has 7 cards. Stock pile cards can be placed below a card in the tableau if that card is of the opposite color, and a number one rank higher. For example, let’s say there is an 8 of Hearts on the third column of the tableau. Either a 7 of Spades or Clubs from the stock pile can be placed on top of it. Similarly, cards in the tableau can be moved around to other columns where there is a card of the opposite color and an incrementally higher number. This is called “building.” For example, if the third column has a 3 of Clubs, it can be moved to another column beneath a card that is either a 4 of Hearts or Diamonds. Remember that in each of the tableau columns, the last card should always be flipped face up. This means if there is a face down card remaining after the 3 of Clubs is moved, it should be turned up, and it becomes another card you can build with. Groups of turned up cards can be moved too on the tableau. ![]()
